THE third round of the National Apprentices Series will be held under lights in Launceston on Wednesday night.

Star Tasmanian apprentice Siggy Car will represent South Australia as she is still officially indentured to a South Australian trainer even though she has been riding in Tasmania permanently since late last year.

Carr is on loan to her father Royston Carr which is an arrangement whereby the rider was able to extend her apprenticeship and keep her claim alive if and when she returns to South Australia or any other state to ride.

The apprentices will ride in two races on the program (races three and five) with race five, a benchmark 62 handicap over 1200m, to carry the points for the series.

Carr has drawn to ride Finalargee from the stable of team Wells, while leading apprentice Raquel Clark will ride the Monica Ryan trained Smartie Artie.

The interstate based apprentices to tackle the series are Carr (SA), Chelsea Hall from Victoria, Western Australia’s rising star Randy Tan and Hannah English from Queensland.

English, who has only been riding for nine months, has ridden 35 winners and is considered an outstanding prospect. She will partner the John Luttrell trained Savvy Princess.

Hall will partner the Peter Luttrell trained Espry, who is ready to win.

Hall first sat on a thoroughbred at age 20 with limited experience in the racing industry.

But since making her debut aboard Spanish Vixen at the Gunbower Gold Cup in 2014, Hall has piloted 39 career winners and won more than $610,000 in prize money.

The 24-year-old is currently indentured to Terry and Karina O’Sullivan and while yet to make her metropolitan debut she has developed a strong affinity with the country circuits.

Tan has fared best of the interstate riders as she will partner the Angela Brakey trained Liberty Dance, who has an abundance of speed to overcome her wide draw.

In-form Longford apprentice Sherry Barr has drawn Sphero who is the likely favourite on the strength of his recent minor placings against good opposition.
