WELL-BRED four-year-old Demons Run has always given the impression he will do well over the longer distances so he gets his chance to live up to those expectations at UBET Park Hobart today where he will line up in a maiden-class one over 2100 metres.
Demons Run has had five starts this time in for one minor placing which was two starts back when third to Beaufort Lad in a maiden-class one over 1600 metres in Launceston.
He flashed home from well back last start over the same distance and in similar company behind Thousand Guineas winner Miss Choosey from the Walter McShane stable.
Today he meets a very modest field of six and with his stablemate You Didn’t not to run it opens the doors for the gelded son of Savoire Vivre to notch his second win with talented jockey Anthony Darmanin in the saddle.
In the opening race on the seven-event card the John Keys-trained Fill Ya Boots looks to have a mortgage on the 3YO Maiden over 1200 metres.
Fill Ya Boots was placed second at her latest outing behind Marmalady in Hobart with only a short half-head separating the pair on the line.
With the aid of barrier one and a lack of genuine depth in the small field of seven she should be able to break her maiden status.
