REIGNING Tasmanian greyhound of the year Rewind may have missed a berth in this Saturday night’s rich Golden Easter Egg final at Wentworth Park but he could leave the series on a high if he can win the $40,000 Easter Egg Consolation over 520m.
Rewind finished a luckless fourth in his semi-final last Saturday night but qualified for the Consolation and he has drawn the coveted inside box (1).
Rewind’s owner-trainer Morrie Strickland said the dog went into his semi-final not quite at his top. The dog lost some weight and was unable to produce his best on the night but the trainer is confident he can atone in the Consolation.
“He’s put the weight back on and everything seems to be right back on track so if he is at his best on Saturday night he will definitely give them something to chase from box one,” he said.
Rewind (Collide-Ricky’s Angel) has a brilliant record from box one having worn the red vest five times for four wins and a second.
The dog has started 51 times for 31 wins and 13 minor placings for almost $150,000 in stakes.
