THE JOUSTER looks set to be a handy acquisition to harness trainer Heath Szczypka’s stable if his latest performance at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston tonight (Sunday) is any indication.

The Jouster was given the run of the race by ace reinsman Todd Rattray who landed the son of Our Sir Vancelot in the one-out-one-back position soon after the start.

The favourite Royal Alchemist led from the pole position but he was tested for the last nap when driver Tony Pullicino sent his charge Our Kaizan around the field to face the breeze.

Royal Alchemist capitulated nearing the home turn and Our Kaizan forged to the lead but when Rattray eased The Jouster three-wide to issue his challenge the seven-year-old stallion quickly hauled in the leader and went on to score by over nine metres from Little Elf that bloused Our Kaizan out of second place in the last stride.

It was The Jouster’s second start in Tasmania with his debut effort producing a second in Launceston on September 28.

Szczypka had had the horse in his care for about four months.
