Love The Moment returned to the winner’s circle at The TOTE Racing Centre under lights in Launceston on Thursday night in a benchmark 78 handicap over 1600 metres.
The mare was well ridden by in-form jockey Kelvin “The Iceman” Sanderson who allowed his charge to sit back and enjoy a slick pace set by bold front-runner Ocean Jeune that at one stage led by 10 lengths.
When Sanderson called on Love The Moment (Savoire Vivre-Hidden Moment) to issue a challenge she grabbed the bit and chased hard over the concluding stages to hit the line almost a length clear of Raging Baa with Devon Lass a half-neck astern.
McCarthy had to deal with a couple of issues this preparation that resulted in her having to space her runs but she is confident the mare is back on track.
“I’m very pleased that she’s back winning because it’s been a while since we’ve had her this good in herself,” McCarthy said.
“We have always had an opinion of her and if she continues to improve we will probably aim her at the cups during the carnival (Tasmania Summer Racing Carnival),” she said.
