TALENTED staying greyhound Ming Dynasty looks set to atone her failure in the National Distance Championship in Queensland when she takes on a modest line-up in the Richard Stamford Perpetual Stakes over 720 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston tonight.
Ming Dynasty won the right to contest the National Distance final with a stunning win in her state final last month.
But on the Albion Park circuit she was never out of trouble at the rear of the field and finished last ands nine lengths fro the winner Dashing Corsair.
At her first ruin back in the state she came from well back to finish third in a mixed grades four-five over 600 metres in Launceston two weeks ago.
Tonight she will start from box four and is likely to drop out early while Posh Will (6) and Adam’s Sweetie (7) could do battle for the lead to the first turn
If Ming Dynasty secures a clear run then the talented bitch should return to the winner’s circle.
The Russell Watts-trained Sour Pop looms as one of the best on the 10-event card.
Sour Pop will wear the check vest in race two and would only need to jump with them and avoid trouble to notch her second win from five starts on the track.
Talented sprinter Riley Diary also looms as a star bet. The Leigh Wood-trained dog has won six of his 14 starts in Tasmania with two of them over this trip (515m) on the Launceston circuit.
He is a winner here three starts back in grade five company and should handle the step up to grade four.
