BIONIC STAR made an impressive debut at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today scoring by almost six lengths in the LGH Homes 2YO maiden Plate over 1100 metres.

With leading rider Brendon McCoull aboard, Bionic Star showed good early speed to lead and when the rider gave the gelded son of Bianconi more rein at the top of the home straight he burst clear and went on to score from Stockbroker with another first starter Colonial Gold a half-head away third.

The winner ran the 1100m trip in 1.06.45s but ran home his last 600 metres in 35.77s, which was a fair effort for a two-year-old having its first start.

His trainer Barry Campbell was delighted with the win and said the gelding had shown above average ability from day one.

Bionic Star is owned by Craig Hodge who bred the gelding from a Rory’s Jester mare (Aden) that he purchased from David Hayes when he was training in Hong Kong.
