THE adage “putting all of your eggs in one basket” certainly applies to reigning premier Tasmanian training partnership of David and Scott Brunton as they put their trust in stable star Lady Lynette that will carry the stable’s hopes of winning another $100,000 Vamos Stakes at Mowbray tomorrow.
Team Brunton will be relying on Lady Lynette to give them their fifth success in the Listed weight-for-age race for fillies and mares over 1400 metres.
The Bruntons have prepared the winner of four of the past five editions of the race and Lady Lynette is already a Vamos winner (2009).
They also had last year’s Vamos winner I’m A Hussy entered for this year’s event but David Brunton said she is being saved for the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes over 1200 metres at Morphetville in Adelaide on March 26.
Lady Lynette is coming off a sensational win in the $150,000 Bow Mistress Stakes over 1200 metres in Hobart on Derby Day.
Lady Lynette’s price to win the Vamos tumbled in to $2.20 when I’m A Hussy was scratched and subsequent strong support has forced fixed odds operator Betasport to tighten the price into $1.80 and she could start even shorter by race start time.
