A FAULT with the Telstra bearer that facilitates the transmission of pictures of Tasmanian Racing to Sky Channel failed yesterday resulting in none of the state’s racing to be seen on the national racing station.
The Tasmanian Racing Club boasted a strong eight-race program at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart with the Governor’s Cup the feature while the Launceston Pacing Club played host to the $100,000 Group 1 Australian Derby at The TOTE Racing Centre at Mowbray.
The Telstra problem left punters in the dark at both meetings, although Sky Channel provided regular price updates and delivered full audio coverage nationwide.
The problem was identified by Telstra about 11.30am yesterday but it was unable to correct the problem on the day.
While there was no official comment from Telstra, a Sky Channel technical director advised that Telstra was “hoping to have the problem rectified in time to broadcast today’s thoroughbred meeting from Devonport.”
Tasmania also boasts a harness meeting from Hobart and a greyhound meeting from Launceston tonight (Monday).
