GROUP ONE Hobart Thousand Heats are the highlight on the Tasmanian Greyhound Calendar and tonight at Elwick brings together the cream of Australia’s best greyhounds on Australia’s best u turn track.
Heat One (R2) looks a battle between Darren McDonald’s Perfect Fancy and Lauren Gorman’s Daintree Palace.
Both trialled at the track on Monday with Perfect Fancy recording the fastest time of the morning at 25.90.
Heat Two (R3) looks a tough heat but perhaps at value NSW runner Numero Uno Bale trained by Brendan Wheeler.
Tasmania’s own Ella Lucy has a great chance to make the Final in Heat three (R4) from West Australian Kilty Lad.
Damek’s brother Decembrist only has to fine a clear path through from the squeeze box to make his presence felt in Heat four (R5) with Bate’s youngster Shereen Bale and last year’s winner Prankster the hardest to beat.
All of Tasmania with be standing in anticipation as their home grown champ Damek lines up in Heat 5 (R6), he has drawn a good box and should have the crowd chanting up the home straight.
Dee Winter, 3rd in the Melbourne Cup looks hard to hold out in Heat Six (R7) from another of Bate’s bale dogs, Stefan Bale.
Heat Seven (R8) will match Darren McDonald’s Octane Show against the much travelled Accounts for Mangalore trainer Debbie Cannan.
Finally the last heat should provide another Tasmanian winner in Octane Assassin however Citi Legend and Rumour Control will both be hard to beat.
Best Bets: R2 No 1 Perfect Fancy, R6 No 2 Damek, R8 No 6 Octane Show.
Best E/W: R3 No 7 Numero Uno Bale, R4 No 4 Ella Lucy, R5 No 4 Decembrist.
