Akka Boy trained by Butch Deverell at Penguin smashed his personal best and equalled High Choice’s tasbred record on Thursday night winning the Invitation in great style.
Having start 99, Akka recorded his 38th win and 8th win at the circuit by jumping brilliantly from the green and leading all the way in a sizzling 25.98.
Sultan’s Swing tried gallantly to peg back the veteran but missed by a 1 1/2 on the line with Super Joe Cool a further 3 1/4 lengths back in third after early trouble.
Track record holder Thirteen Black staged another brilliant victory when checked early and gave the leaders almost six lengths before he used the spacious Hobart track straight to fly down the outside and win going away by 1 3/4 lengths in 34.56.
Trainer Leigh Wood was extremely happy with the win especially the way he found the line after early trouble.
Thirteen Black will contest the National Distance Heats in Launceston in early August in hopes of representing Tasmania at the National Championships in Adelaide on August 28th.
Tasmanian Greyhound Owner Trainer and Breeders finals were hotly contested affairs:
Rank outsider, Buckle Up Cullum trained by Julie Bannon won the Juvenile final from box eight beating kennelmates Callamac Ace & Callamac Kid in 26.49.
The brilliant High Choice had to work hard to win the top grade final securing a rail run late to beat the fast finishing Cradoc Park and the consistent Eagle Eye in 26.24
While the Jill Stamford owned and trained Samurai Kid jumped brilliantly again to win the Division 2 final in a canter by 6 lengths in a terrific 26.06.
