REBEL Patch has been mixing his form since arriving in Loretta Luttrell’s kennels about three months ago.
But his form on the Hobart U-bend track is excellent, so it came as no surprise that he proved too strong for his rivals in a reasonably strong grade four in Hobart last night (Thursday).
Rebel Patch showed plenty of early speed to find the lead and despite tracking wide in the home straight he proved too strong to score by a head from Bamm Alam with Cool Boy Decklyn two lengths away third.
Running wide in the home straight almost cost him victory but Luttrell explained it is one of the dog’s traits.
“He has run wide in the straight at all of his starts here in Tassie and he also did it in Victoria so it is something we have to live with,” Luttrell said.
“We’ve had him about three months and he came to us when the Geelong track was closed down.
“He arrived in good shape and won two in a row here in Hobart at his third and fourth starts.
“He has won three and all here in Hobart so it looks like he’s a definite U-turn track dog.”
“I’m hoping that’s the case because we’ll be heading to Devonport with him in the near future,” she said.
Rebel Patch (Pure Octane-Shannah Widd) is owned in Victoria by I Mackenzie.
