WELL bred dog Blue Buddy looks set for a bright future given the ease with which he dispensed with his rivals in a juvenile event over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart tonight.
Blue Buddy (Surf Lorian-Dark Delilah) was having only his second start but he delivered the goods more like a seasoned professional.
The Len Howard-trained blue dog debuted a week earlier with a game second behind Rialto Boy in Hobart but he had no luck from box six.
But carrying the red vest, Blue Buddy made the most of the inside alley and led comfortably at the top turn and when he hit the home straight he slipped into overdrive and went on to score by almost 145 lengths from Yellow Wood Mist that came from near last on the homer turn with Kate Johannah almost a length astern and narrowly ahead of Just Sky.
Blue Buddy stopped the clock at 26.26, which was more conducive to times recorded by novice invitation grade performers.
Although punters were confident of the outcome as the dog was sent around at the prohibitive price of $1.20.
Given the ease with which Blue Buddy dispensed with the opposition there are more wins in store for this pup that was whelped in April 2008.
