EXCITING greyhound Damek kept his unbeaten record intact when he won a juvenile race at Devonport over 452 metres on Tuesday.

The Eileen Thomas-trained pup blitzed his rivals by 12 lengths but it was his time that had the dish licker devotees buzzing.

Damek (Big Daddy Cool-World’s Finest) stopped the clock at 25.23 which was only one-tenth slower than the track record (25.13) set by the great Lilli Pilli Lad back in July 2000.

Thomas said the dog has improved with each start and described his potential as “frightening”.

“Who knows what he’s capable of because that was his first start on the track so he’s bound to improve,” Thomas said.

Damek went into the Devonport race on the back of an impressive 6-3/4 length win in the prestigious Hobart Maiden Thousand final last Thursday night.

“He hasn’t been beginning all that well but he musters speed quickly. If he can improve his box manners he could be really special,” she said.

Damek was bred by Peter and June Phillips at Copping and he is one of a litter of six with his kennel mate Daegan winning on the same program on Tuesday to make it back-to-back wins.

Another litter brother, Decembrist, is prepared by Peter Phillips and he too has string together four wins fro his past six starts.
