In Brief
- Quaddie easy to find for punters.
- Stop Line has won five of last six.
- Impressive strike rate for trainer.
Westbury based trainer Jillian Stamford enjoyed a treble in Devonport on Tuesday, which included the last three legs of the quaddie.
The well-supported Logo ($3.10 into $2.20 Ladbrokes fixed odds) for Debbie Cannan took out the first leg of the quaddie which was race five over 452m in a time of 26.12 seconds, before the Stamford show rolled into gear for the next three races.
The closest finish for the entire program highlighted the sixth race and started the run for Stamford when Prince Fabio ($6.50) edged out the Anthony Bullock trained Little Bit Magic ($9.50) in a time of 26.23s. The photo could have gone either way, but Prince Fabio just held on after pinging straight to the lead as the boxes were released.
Next up for Stamford was Stop Line ($1.35 into $1.22) who gave another reminder of his Group 3 Devonport Chase credentials with an easy win in 25.42s which was the fastest time for the day. The son of St. Pierre wasn’t the fastest from the boxes, but held the inside rail and quickly zoomed to the lead, eventually winning by 6.25 lengths from Be Like Bill ($2.70 out to $4.80).
The popular quaddie which returned a UTAB dividend of $20.40 was rounded out by Leica Prayer ($1.60 into $1.45) who jumped from the red and won in a time of 25.57s.
With 21 winners from her last 50 starters at a staggering strike rate of 42%, Stamford will be a key player across the numerous upcoming features races through the remainder of 2019.
