ONE of Tasmania’s star mares Reunification that was retired to stud last season is now a proud mother of a striking colt by Elvestroem.

Reunification, raced by Miranda Foster, Judy Kingston and Ann Campbell, was sold to Brighton-based owner-breeder Dudley Clark at the end of her racing career and immediately sent to Vinery Stud in the Hunter Valley (NSW) to be mated with Elvestroem.

The colt is unlikely to be offered for sale as Clark usually races those that he breeds but given the pedigree he might end up at a premier Sydney sale.

Reunification is by West Quest from the Jetball mare Entally that unfortunately died last year while giving birth to a filly, also by West Quest.

The filly foal survived and was hand-fed by Helen and Adrian Palmer at their Black Hills agistment property and she has furnished into a perfect specimen.

Vinery Stud’s Conor Phelan said both mare and foal are doing well.

He said Reunification is likely to be covered by another of Vinery’s stallions Mossman late next week.

Reunification retired with a career record of 12 wins and seven minor placings from only 28 starts for almost $200,000 in stakes.
