THE racing at Tattersall’s Park last Sunday was played out on a heavy track despite the meeting being threatened by torrential rain that pounded the track for two days late last week.
On Saturday morning parts of the track were under water but under the management of Tasracing’s tracks manager Neil Gardner the revitalised drainage system was able to cope with the deluge and enable the meeting to proceed.
Tasbreeders’ Executive Officer Brett Williams, who also is a prominent owner of racehorses, praised the way the track played out during the meeting.
“I just want to say how well the track drained for Sunday’s race meeting,” Williams said.
“The parts of the track that have been the problem areas in the past drained exceptionally well.”
“Sunday was the first real test of Neil Gardner’s work and the improvements have to be rated significant,” Williams said.
