SPREYTON trainer Leon Wells is predicting a bright future for his lightly raced mare Devon Lass after she blitzed her rivals in a strong class one handicap over 1220 metres at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston last Sunday.
Devon Lass (Stephen Maskiell) unleashed a powerful sprint in the home straight to leave her rivals in her wake. She hit the line well clear of race leader Tuesdaynitedelight with Larmar Hall a close-up third.
It was a form reversal of the mare’s previous outing when she was under pressure at the home turn and failed to ruin on as expected.
The mare is raced by the Devonport Racing Club syndicate 1 that is managed by Barry Milton and comprises 18 members.
Maskiell said it was a decisive win and one that suggested the mare had many more wins in store.
