The recently completed 2010 Tasmanian Autumn Racing Carnival has been another outstanding endorsement for the Tasmania Yearling Sale and Tasmanian bred gallopers.
The carnival features a series of races for open company sprinter/milers, fillies and mares, 3yos and 2yos. In total, these races conducted over three meetings are worth an additional $330,000 in stakes.
Importantly, the Carnival provides a great opportunity for local owners and trainer to earn excellent prize money outside of the Summer Racing Carnival.
Pleasingly, Tasmanian sale graduates and Tasmanian bred gallopers have once again dominated this carnival, with this group winning 11 of the 12 races conducted, including the bulk of the prize money on offer.
Additionally, of the 12 feature races conducted, eight were won by Tasmanian yearling sale graduates.
In general, May has been another outstanding month for Tasmanian bred gallopers and in particular for Tasmanian sale graduates. In total, 42 races were conducted in Tasmania during May, with over 75% (33) of the winners being Tasmanian-bred. Impressively, 21 of these winners were graduates of the annual sale, being an amazing 50% of the total winners in Tasmania during May.
What is even more impressive is that this list includes the unbeaten Socks, plus a selection of highly rated up and coming gallopers in Trysty, Tough Future, Gea Force and the St Leger winner Stadacona.
