TALENTED two-year-old Musqui is likely to have his next start at Moonee Valley in Melbourne following the gelding’s effortless win at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston today (June 3).

Musqui won on debut under lights two weeks ago in Launceston but he didn’t need lights to guide him home today.

The Chris Crook-trained gelding showed blistering early speed to lead and when jockey David Pires gave the gelded son of Matsqui a little more rein he left his rivals in his wake and went on to score by eight lengths.

Pires was excited about the effort and told the trainer he was worthy of a trip to Melbourne.

“That was an awesome win. He did it so easily and when I gave him one flick with the whip he just took off and stayed tt that high cruising speed,” Pires said.

“He has so much ability it’s scary,” he said.

Musqui had the race won turning for home with his rivals off the bit and chasing hard.

He hit the line well clear of Shinto with Alesto Star third.
