CLASSY sprinter Tough Future has more than likely earned a trip interstate following his latest effort at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday.
Tough Future demolished a strong field of class four performers on his way to an 8-1/2 length win over Star Of Portland and Long Live The King in the Gee Gee Horse Stud Handicap over 1400 metres.
It was the lightly raced four-year-old gelding’s first attempt beyond 1200 metres and he handled it with aplomb.
Tough Future has started five times this preparation for four wins and a second, leaving his trainer Ray Worbey with little option but to head interstate.
“I have a race in mind at Moonee Valley next month that might be suitable so that’s whet we’re looking at right at the minute but it will depend on how the horse is going at the time,” Worbey said.
Tough Future was ridden by apprentice James Riordan who rated the gelding superbly, although he was only able to claim a half kilogram of his three-kilogram claim due to pressing weight problems.
