Well-bred three-year-old filly I’m A Floozy has emerged from her 1100-metre maiden win in Launceston last Sunday in good order which should allow her to progress to a class one handicap in Devonport on Sunday week.
I’m A Floozy ($4.40) was having her first start since returning from a failed attempt in Victoria soon after the Tasmanian racing industry was shut down due to COVID-19 restrictions.
On Sunday, the filly raced outside of the leader to the home turn but when rider Siggy Carr gave the daughter of Toorak Toff more rein she sped clear and went on to score comfortably.
“I’m A Floozy pulled up well and we will more than likely take her to a class one at Devonport in a fortnight over 1150m,” Brakey said.
“She had a start in Victoria, but she hurt herself in the run and we had to bring her home.
“She’s had her share of niggling problems, but I’ve managed to sort all of those things out and I was very confident she could win last Sunday.”
I’m A Floozy is the daughter of I’m A Hussy that won a Group 3 Vamos Stakes and placed second in a Group 3 Bow Mistress before she went to stud.
Brakey has I’m A Floozy’s half-sister (x Wordsmith) Champaign Hussy in work and she is hoping the two-year-old makes it to the races this season.
“Champaign Hussy is a big, strong filly that had been going through growing spurts but that’s settled down and we are hoping we can get her to the races this season.”
Brakey also saddled up Banca Star for a fourth in a maiden last Sunday and she pulled up so well the filly will head to Hobart on Sunday for a maiden for three-year-old fillies over 1100 metres.
Brakey will have another talented three-year-old, White Cliffs, back to the stable at the end of the month.
“I’m looking forward to White Cliffs coming back into work because he showed us something special before he went to Victoria where he had one start at Caulfield.
“He did it tough over there and when he came home, he was a wreck, but he’s done really well in the paddock and hopefully he can recapture the form he had before he went to Melbourne.”
White Cliffs won three in succession before slipping across Bass Strait.
