In Brief
- Former Lloyd Kennewell-trained galloper a great addition to Carr's stable.
- Four wins boosts rider confidence.
- Acquiring stables at Seven Mile Beach a plus for Carr.
Talented jockey-trainer Siggy Carr was the dominant player at Sunday’s thoroughbred meeting in Devonport where she rode four winners of which two were from her stables at Seven Mile Beach.
It was a career-best effort from the popular young trainer-rider who recently leased stables at Seven Mile Beach as well as keeping her boxes at Brighton.
It was Divisor, a newcomer to the stable, that opened her account for the day with a strong all-the-way win in the Thai Imperial Maiden over 1350m.
Divisor ($1.90) was heavily backed to start the short-priced favourite and despite being taken on in the lead to the home turn, the former Lloyd Kennewell-trained gelding proved too strong in the home straight to score by two lengths from Ge Gee Devonboy ($6) and Jackjack ($4.20).
Carr made it a race-to-race double when she partnered the Rowan Hamer-trained Braccenby to a stirring win in a benchmark 74 handicap over 1350m, coming from well back to win in the last two strides.
She then partnered one of her favourite horses Invincible Rock to an emphatic al-the-way win in a benchmark 60 handicap over 1350m.
“I love this horse because he is a real character and tries so hard,” Carr said.
“He went back to Canberra and didn’t fire there and they were going to retire him but I convinced the owners to send him back for another prep and while things didn’t work out first-up in Hobart three weeks ago he certainly delivered today.”
Carr’s fourth winner came courtesy of a gun ride aboard the Rowan Hamer-trained Date Night that was first-up from over a year off the scene.
The four wins put Carr equal second with Anthony Darmanin on the jockey’s premiership table at 39 wins apiece, but both have no chance of catching Craig Newitt (64 wins) who has left the state to live and ride in Victoria.
