In Brief

  • Trainer hits triple figures for another year.
  • He can’t separate Pink Turtle and Gypsies Luck.
  • Devils Corner a genuine each-way chance in race seven.

Leading trainer Anthony Bullock is well represented across today’s ten-race card in Devonport.

The Exeter based trainer has won 11 of the last 12 trainers premierships in Tasmania, notched up his 100th winner of the year with a treble in Launceston the previous night and the trainer has 14 chances to add to his tally this afternoon.

Clunes is one of three runners from the Bullock kennel engaged in the fifth race, the Put Your Quaddies On Grade 4 over 452 meters.

The Barcia Bale – Demi Cali dog was runner up behind Casino Ace last Tuesday when running 26.24s before finishing fifth behind Rusty The Crow in Hobart on Thursday when sent out a $31 chance, but punters are keeping the chaser short in today’s market opening up as the $2.25 favourite.

“It’s not an overly strong field and if he puts his best foot forward and with the right run in the race he should be hard to beat,” said Bullock.

Bullock prepares Pink Turtle and Gypsies Luck in race eight, the Crown Lager – Australias Best Grade 5 with the two runners heading early markets along with the Craig French-trained Mecca Senor.

Pink Turtle has drawn box two and has been placed in his last three outings, the most recent was a third in Hobart on Thursday behind Paddy Lee.

“She is going very well and was a good thing beat in Hobart on Thursday night,” said Bullock about the Dyna Villa bitch who ran 26.47s.

The winner of five races from 46 starts has had 13 tries in Devonport for two victories.

“She goes well in Devonport and loves the fence,” added the trainer.

Gypsies Luck has drawn box four and has been racing in good form, not missing a place in her last six outings including three wins, the most recent in Hobart on Thursday over the 340 metres recording a time of 19.45s when scoring by 3.5 lengths.

“She is going well but is yet to win in eleven starts in Devonport but has placed six times,” said her trainer about the Fernando Bale bitch who has a best time on the track of 25.64s.

“Whichever one of the two have the best run should win,” said the trainer with confidence.

Bullock did rate Devils Corner in Synectic Devonport Mixed Grade 1 and 2 event as a strong each-way chance in the 452-metre event.

The Spring Gun – Champagne Girl dog finished down the track behind Twisted Reality in the Greg Fahey Mid Distance Championship on Thursday and draws box one today.

Leica Prayer in box two is the early favourite and has been racing in good form winning her last five outings in Devonport, and she was fifth in the State Sprint Championship behind Siberia in Hobart on Thursday where she found plenty of trouble.

Today’s action commences at noon and will be shown on TasracingTV and Sky Racing 1.
