Two heats of the Steve King Ladies Bracelet are the feature events on a 10-race card hosted by the Launceston Greyhound Racing Club at the Ladbrokes Racing Centre on Monday night.
Brighton trainer Blake Pursell has had the box draw’s fall his way with his two runners in the series both drawing the red box.
Goodnight Vicki has won two of her four starts in Launceston and will contest the first heat.
The Fernando Bale – Ainsley Bale bitch has never missed a place in three starts from the red box, including her most recent win in Launceston five starts ago in a Grade Four event.
Her last outing was in Launceston last week where she ran 30.67s when defeated 9.25 lengths behind Amy Cora after drawing the top of the track.
“She is a lot better dog when she can get to the fence, she is racing really well but it is a tough ask in that field,” said her trainer Blake Pursell.
In what looks to be the stronger of the two heats, her rivals include Shane Yates Memorial and Illingworth Classic winner Wynburn Lethal who has drawn box seven and last week’s Launceston’s Invitation winner Amy Cora and the Jill Stamford-trained Leica Prayer.
In heat two of the Bracelet, the Pursell kennel is represented by Maddie Zorro who won her third race on the Launceston track last week in 30.14s.
“She is just an honest little chaser that puts her self in the race by the way she jumps and chases well,” said Pursell.
“She will have to be a strong chance from the red,” added the trainer with the main dangers including recent Launceston winner Lady Danger, Hooked On Brenda, It’s Phyllis and Manners Matter.
The first four placings in each heat qualify for next week’s final where the winner will take home $2,205.
Another runner from the Pursell kennel to keep an eye on Monday is Pages Creek in race eight, who has won his last two outings, before breaking the 30.00s mark in a trial on Monday night.
“He ran 29.79s there last week in a trial, it is a bit different in a race though especially coming up with box five,” said the young trainer
“If he can get around that first turn and be up near the leaders, he should be hard to beat,” said Pursell about the winner of six-races who opened the $2.20 favourite.
Lord Disick rounds out the Pursell representation at the meeting in race seven who meets a handy mixed grade three and four field where Kintyre is the short price favourite.
Monday night’s card commences at 19:20 where Siberia will start the short price favourite, opening up at $1.18.
