Known as “Snapper” to friends, colleagues and associates alike, Matt Reid has been providing the Tasracing Thoroughbred Staking Strategy since December 2018, a strategy that has returned a profit at best tote/SP since that time.
After spending over a decade working in the wagering industry, Snapper joined the Tasracing team full-time in October 2019, now providing content across all three racing codes but perhaps best known for his continued work on the thoroughbreds and the Tasracing Kennel Talk podcast.
Duncan Dornauf has been raised in the Tasmanian racing industry as part of the Dornauf family that remain significantly involved in harness racing to this day.
Duncan spent several years as a harness driver, also cutting his cloth working for various stables across Victoria and Tasmania, even having a stint as a trainer in his own right.
Duncan’s foray into racing media is where he is best known these days, plying his trade across all three racing codes, showing tremendous work ethic and knowledge in doing so.
A regular caller of thoroughbred trials, amazingly calling his first trial when he was 10, Duncan also fills in calling the greyhounds and provides harness racing content to both tasracing.com.au and the harness.org website.
Duncan’s expertise across all three racing codes means you will find him regularly hosting meetings across gallops, harness and greyhounds for TasracingTV.
Few names are more synonymous with Tasmanian racing media than Peter Staples. After promoting the industry for over three decades, and providing highly-valued guidance to teammates and marketing leadership, Stapes has set his retirement plans into action.
Stapes was recognised by his induction into the Tasmanian Racing Hall of Fame as an associate in 2018.
His infectious personality shone through in all of his media work, whether it is print, on-camera or recording a podcast. Stapes built relationships across the industry enabling him to bring out the best in racing participants.
Peter Staples is also a published author, perhaps best known for his work on the book Mick and the Cleaner the story of the late trainer Mick Burles and the popular Group winning horse The Cleaner.
