TASMANIA’S star four-year-old Admiral and rising star two-year-old Gee Gee Double Dee will have one thing in common when they arrive at UBET Park today for their respective assignments.

Both will start at Black Caviar odds which is almost unheard of at a feature race meeting.

Admiral’s price to win the $100,000 weight-for-age Thomas Lyons Stakes is $1.10 and the same price is being offered by UBET in its fixed odds market on Gee Gee Double Dee to win the $100,000 2YO Elwick Stakes.

When UBET opened its market on the Thomas Lyons it offered $1.50 about Admiral winning but within 15 minutes of the price going up an avalanche of bets sent his price tumbling into $1.30 but with the scratching of Ballinacash yesterday UBET has slashed his price to $1.10.

With the exception of the Gary White-trained Meconsul and Devonport Cup placegetter Dream Roller Admiral’s opposition today is mediocre for a $100,000 Listed race that is made up primarily of horses that need a strong hit-out in readiness for the Launceston Cup or a more suitable George Adams (1600m).

Gee Gee Double Dee opened at $1.20 with the Peter Moody-trained Gratwick in the field as well as another interstate invader Delta D’Or but when they were scratched the filly’s price also tumbled into $1.10.

“This is unheard of having two horses as $1.10 favourites in feature races but they both look like stand-out bets on the program,” said UBET communications manager Gerrard Daffy.

The Leon Wells-trained filly has been impressive in winning at her only three starts with the latest in the $30,000 Alfa Bowl over 1200 metres in Launceston with Craig Newitt aboard.

Wells could not be happier with his filly’s condition going into today’s assignment.

“Double Dee is in great shape and I can hardly wait for tomorrow’s race,” Wells said.

“She has been awesome at all three of her starts but honestly I reckon she’s improved further,” he said.

Longford trainer John Blacker will saddle up two of his juveniles in debut winner Jupiter’s Moon and the filly Mariah’s Magic that debuted with a second to Hot Dipped in Launceston last Wednesday week.

“Of my two I think Mariah’s Magic will be the one doing the best work at the finish so she she’d be my best chance of upsetting the favourite,” Blacker said.
