BRIGHTON trainer Steve Lockhart almost heaved a sigh of relief when his handy three-year-old filly All Bar Madison scored an emphatic win in a maiden over 1100 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today.
All Bar Madison (All Bar One-Madame Giovanni) produced a powerful finish to score comfortably from first-starter King Macedon with Mikaylas Raider a closing third.
The filly had been running around in much stronger races including the $50,000 3YO Classic in Launceston and the Magic Millions 3YO Classic at the same venue.
It was an overdue win as she was having her 10h start and her eighth start this time in with only two minor placings to her credit leading up to today’s impressive win.
It was a well-judged ride by four kilogram-claiming apprentice Kyle Maskiell who had the filly settled midfield and put her into the race at the right time.
The win also gave Lockhart something to celebrate on his birthday.
