In Brief

  • Launceston meeting brought forward by nine minutes.
  • Recall impresses in recent trials ahead of Gold Collar.
  • Parkour and Wynburn Express go into the race off recent wins.

Punters are not to be caught off guard with earlier start times at Monday night’s Launceston meeting.

The first race has been brought forward at the request of Sky Racing and will now commence at 19:16.

Race seven on the card is the Simon’s Carpet One Gold Collar Final.

There were insufficient nominations to run heats of the series last week.

Devonport Breeders Classic winner Recall will be looking to make amends after finishing seven-lengths behind Siberia in Devonport on Wednesday.

The Jack Jury-trained chaser was first-up for just under a month on that occasion and copped a bump soon after the start.

Recall, a part of the Superior Product – Princess Roman litter that was whelped in December 2018, had trialled well in Launceston before his most recent effort.

Greyhound expert Brennan Ryan said on Tasracing’s Kennel Talk Podcast that the chaser had run times of blistering times of 29.58s and 29.56s in recent trials in Launceston over the 515 metres.

Monday’s Gold Collar Final looks to be a race in three with Parkour (Box 7) and Wynburn Express (Box 3) having strong claims.

Parkour, prepared by Ted Medhurst, broke the 30.00 second mark when winning a Grade 6 event last week by nine-lengths defeating Langley Roo (Box 2) in 29.93s at only his second look at the Launceston track under race conditions, and is the quickest time of those in the field that have raced on the track.

Wynburn Express is also a last start Launceston winner from last week in 30.11s also in a Grade 6 event and is one of three runners in the race-prepared by Ben Englund.

Monday’s feature is set to jump at 21:37 and will be shown on TasracingTV and Sky Racing 1.
