TALENTED filly Play Apple Tree proved she will be a force to be reckoned with in the Evicus Stakes final in a fortnight with an impressive heat win over 1609 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday night.
Play Apple Tree ($1.30) faced the breeze for the duration but made light of the task to emerge triumphant over Elsudoku ($10.10) and Gracie Grant ($4.60).
The Nathan Ford-trained filly showed her worth at her previous start in Launceston where she galloped in the run and tailed out last only to make a long searching run a lap out to go on and score a comfortable win.
“She has always shown ability and tonight she was just as impressive even though she didn’t have to make up a lot of ground to win,” Ford said.
Play Apple Tree (Art Major-Ashlee Jane) has started only three times for two wins this preparation and a debut fourth in a heat of the Betfair Sweepstakes series in April.
