TALENTED three-year-old filly Arenzano kept her unbeaten record this season intact when she powered home to win the $30,000 Tony Carrick 3YO Vase over 1100 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart yesterday.
Arenzano won at her first two outings this time in with the first by 15 lengths on her home track at Devonport and another over 1000 metres in Hobart after being held up in the home straight.
But this latest win was a statement that she is ready to tackle the big features that are on offer later in the season.
The Barry Campbell-trained filly settled just off the pace while Little River Girl (David Pires) and Bundaleda (Kelvin Sanderson) matched motors to the home turn.
Bundaleda gained the upper hand at the top of the straight and slipped clear and at one stage it looked as if he might have a winning break but when Arenzano knuckled down to her task she picked up the bit and powered her way to an impressive win.
It was clear that the filly is looking for more ground and Campbell confirmed her next mission would be under lights in Launceston in the $50,000 3YO Cup over 1200m on December 5.
