LIGHTLY raced three-year-old Artie’s Spur resumed racing with a brilliant win in Hobart today but in hurricane-like conditions that swept across Tattersall’s Park as the starter released the field.

Artie’s Spur settled well for jockey Kelvin Sanderson to be lying third and travelling on the bit to the home turn while Miss Elizabeth and Barilla Bay made play in front.

When Sanderson called on his charge to expend in the home straight the son of Artie Schiller let down like a good horse and went on to score by 1-1/2 lengths from Miss Elizabeth with Top End Of Town two lengths away third and just in advance of Barilla Bay.

It was an impressive win by the Stephen Lockhart-trained gelding and it was enough to suggest that he could be heading towards some of the feature three-year-old races including the Tasmanian Guineas to be run in Launceston over 1600m in early January.
