SPREYTON trainer David Miller revealed a potential winner at the Devonport trials today in the form of unraced three-year-old gelding Astrodar that left his rivals in his wake in an 800-metre trial on the Tapeta synthetic.
Astrodar began brilliantly from an inside gate with apprentice Ismail Toker aboard and led clearly to the homer turn but when the rider asked for an effort Astrodar kicked clear and hit the line 4-1/2 lengths clear of Adam Trinder’s 2YO Gingie with the John Blacker-trained Blaze Forth about three lengths astern.
Astrodar (Astronomer Royal-Darcenell) was bred by Miller from his former star juvenile filly Darcenell that has produced Darchill (x Churchill Downs) that has won three from 16.
