STAR Tasmanian stayer Banca Mo is likely to have his first start in Queensland on Saturday in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800 metres) on the Gold Coast.
Banca Mo, fresh from his brilliant win in the Mornington Cup (2400m) was flown to Melbourne last night and will be flown to Brisbane on Thursday night and be floated to the Gold Coast on Friday morning.
Trainer Scott Brunton said Banca Mo handled his first flight like a seasoned veteran.
“I’m always on tenterhooks when travelling this horse but everything went smoothly on the flight from Hobart so we are now looking forward to flying to Brisbane on Thursday night and provided he takes no harm from that flight he will line up in the Hollindale Stakes on Saturday,” Brunton said from Melbourne today.
“Our main mission is the Group 1 Doomben Cup on May 09 but I would like him to have the run in the Hollindale as a warm-up for that race but it will all depend on how he travels from Melbourne to Brisbane,” he said.
Banca Mo could not have been more impressive in winning the Mornington Cup and according to Brunton the gelding has done well since that outing.
