Baretta Bee (R10) from the Mangalore kennel of Ted Medhurst in a purple patch of form and tonight’s grade five event at Elwick should increase her winning record.
This daughter of Collision has had just the seven starts for Medhurst and has yet to be unplaced winning four including Monday’s night Ladies Bracelet final at Launceston.
A fortnight ago in the Bracelet heat she ran a sensational time covering the 515m in 29.62 and although this will only be her second start at Hobart she appears to be a class above.
Megastar Spargo (R7) for Rokeby’s Ian Callinan looks a solid each way bet.
At his first start this son of Bombastic Shiraz won well here and last week chased Shanlyn Joaney home in a quick 26.17.
He has a good record jumping from seven and should stay clear of any trouble early.
Harry’s Pick for Len Howard will prove the hardest to beat while Aries is enjoying Grade 4 company and should be taken in the multiples.
Create Magic (R6) for Mount Direction’s Laurence Mulligan also looks a good each way bet currently quoted at $8.00.
If this son of Where’s Pedro manages to find the lead early he should be strong enough to hold on. Educated Cash on his last win here would be very hard to beat while Able Lad off the red should also be in the finish.
Best Bets: R3 No 6 Topline Beaver, R4 No 3 Wata Smartie, R10 No 1 Baretta Bee.
Best E/W: R6 No 4 Create Magic, R7 No 7 Megastar Spargo, R9 No 2 Where’s Primo.
