THROUGH Tasracing.com.au’s association with Aushorse,  racing fans in Tasmania are being given an opportunity to be an honorary owner for a day of one of the nation’s most talented middle distance performers Royal descent.

And if she wins the race the lucky honorary owner will receive 10 per cent of the prizemoney on the day.

Aushorse is offering horse racing fans the ultimate race day experience: ownership in popular champion Royal Descent when she takes part in one of Australia’s greatest races, the $3 million Doncaster Mile in Sydney next month.

Through the generosity of Royal Descent’s owner, Gerry Harvey, the winner will receive 10% of any prizemoney she collects in the Royal Randwick feature – some $150,000 if she triumphs!

In addition, the winner and five friends will experience the ultimate day out, with exclusive hospitality at The Championships Day 1 on April 4, the chance to be in the parade ring as Chris Waller gives the mare’s jockey his final instructions, plus flights for two from any Australian capital city, accommodation and transport to and from the track.

To win simply go to www.ownachampion.com.au and tell us what you would call Royal Descent’s first foal when she goes to stud.

What’s more, owner Gerry Harvey will pick the winner and use the name when Royal Descent becomes a mum.

The retailing magnate and owner of Magic Millions sales company said the competition was a great opportunity to enjoy the ultimate racing experience.

“Royal Descent is definitely one of the best horses I’ve owned and is certainly the best I’ve got at the moment,” he said of the AJC Oaks winner.

“I’m relinquishing 10% of her to somebody who I hope is lucky. And if she wins, they’ll get a $150,000 cheque and have an amazing day out. That’s a pretty good return as it costs nothing to enter!

“It’s hard to explain, but when you’re in horse racing you look at the winners of those big races and think, ‘that would be pretty good.’

“But when it happens, you can’t comprehend the emotion you feel. The excitement just flows through you.

“This is your chance to experience those emotions and be part of one of racing’s biggest days. I just hope Royal Descent can win the Doncaster and keep everybody very happy.”

The competition is already up and running and finishes on Tuesday 31 March 2015 at 12pm. It is open to all Australian residents aged 18 or over.

Royal Descent is one of Australia’s best and most popular race mares. She has amassed almost $1.7 million in prizemoney from 22 starts and won the AJC Oaks by 10 lengths in 2013.

Now five, Royal Descent earned more plaudits when narrowly beaten in both last year’s Doncaster Mile and Epsom Handicap at Royal Randwick.

Aushorse is the marketing arm of Thoroughbred Breeders Australia and aims to promote racehorse ownership as well as the quality of the Australian thoroughbred.
