MULTIPLE premiership-winning trainer Barrie Rattray is pinning his hopes of winning another Dandy Patch final on well-bred youngster Beautide.
After the gelding’s impressive heat win over 2090 metres in Hobart on Sunday night Rattray is quietly confident Beautide has what it takes to win the $30,000 feature in a fortnight.
Beautide led but was pressured for most of the race before bursting clear in the home straight to record an impressive four-metre win over Johnnyace that trailed the winner with Iden Hotshot an encouraging third four metres astern.
It was Beautide’s first start for two months with his previous outing a victory over Karalta Wizard in the Betfair Sweepstakes final.
He was well handled by the trainer’s son Gareth Rattray who also has a big opinion of the son of Bettors Delight-Gorse Bush.
Beautide clocked a mile rate of 2m.37.8 over the 20090-metre trip for a mile rate of 2m.01.5s, running home his last half (800m) in 59 seconds.
Rattray said Beautide was a class horse that has done everything asked of him this season.
