The Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale had a weekend to remember when, The Cleaner, Like a Carousel and Kenjorwood were all successful in Melbourne.
On Friday night at Moonee Valley, Cult hero, The Cleaner (Savoire Vivre – Dash of Scotch) out toughed his rivals in the JRA Cup over 2040m at Moonee Valley. The Cleaner has returned home to prepare for the Group 1 Cox Plate on 25 October.
The Cleaner a $10,000 graduate of the 2009 Tasmanian Yearling Sale has now had 18 wins and earned $848,000 in prizemoney.
On Saturday, Like a Carousel (Helike-Carnival Ride) out stayed his rivals in the Listed Harry White Classic (2400m) at Sportingbet Park Sandown Hillside.
The victory on Saturday gives the Ken Keys-trained stayer a pass in the ballot for the Melbourne Cup and while Keys said the Group 1 $6 million Melbourne Cup was “just a dream” the galloper will head to the Group 3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) at Flemington on November 1 in a bid to qualify for a Cup tilt.
Like a Carousel a $10,000 graduate of the 2011 Tasmanian Yearling Sale, has now had 21 starts for 2 wins and 7 minor placings and $205,000 in prizemoney.
On Sunday at Caulfield Kenjorwood (Snippetson – Flying Diva), a $41,000 graduate of the 2011 Tasmanian Yearling Sale gave his rivals a galloping lesson over 1700m winning by 4 lengths. The 5yo bay has had 21 starts for 4 wins and 8 minor placing for prizemoney of $235,000
The weekend results continue to prove that the Tasmanian Yearling Sale continues to produce tough horses for outstanding value.
