WELL bred four-year-old mare Clan McLeod could be set for the Devonport Cup following her very impressive win in the Gateway Shopping Centre Maiden/Class 1 over 1600m at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart today (Sunday).
With the state’s leading rider Brendon McCoull aboard, Clan McLeod raced on the pace and when the rider gave her more rein at the top of the straight she bounded clear and went on to score by 13 lengths from Arlequine with Gee Gee Horsepower over five lengths astern.
Trainer John Keys was delighted with the effort and while he was confident she could win the race he admitted the winning margin was beyond d what he imagined possible.
