TROY Blacker has emerged as one of Tasmania’s most promising young Tasmanian trainers in recent years with the feats of his stable star Dream Pedlar during an interstate campaign in Victoria during this season’s Spring Carnival earning him national acclaim.

Dream Pedlar scored a narrow but convincing win in the $50,000 Gold Nugget (1600m) at Ballarat before scoring a thrilling win in the Listed $150,000 Bendigo Cup.

The five-year-old ended his interstate campaign with a game fourth to Moudre in the Group 3 Queen’s Cup over 2600 metres at Flemington.

Blacker is the youngest son of Tasmanian Hall of Fame trainer George Blacker.

Troy has been quietly going about his business by building a strong team, many of which could play a dominant role during the AAMI Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival.

Dream Pedlar is on a path to the AAMI Hobart Cup (2200m) in which he finished a luckless third last year with Michael Rodd aboard and depending on how the horse emerges from that race he will proceed to the AAMI Launceston Cup (2400m) 10 days later.

Blacker has secured internationally acclaimed Victorian-based jockey Craig Williams for the ride on Dream Pedlar for the Hobart and Launceston cups.
