THE Charmer Lodge Stud Qualifying final (461m) was decimated by scratchings in Hobart last week but the small field of five produced one of the best finishes seen at Tattersall’s Park kin ages.
Uno Animo (1) led clearly to the home turn and looked to have the race parcelled up but when he started to feel the pinch 80 metres out the rest of the field swamped him to produce a blanket finish.
Quick Grab (4), that had been spat out the back early, finished fast along the rails to grab victory by a neck with Broadwater Boy arriving in time to dead-heat for second with Uno Animo, while Lake Taho was only a nose away fourth and a half-length ahead of Apache Rider that finish last of the quintet.
It was Quick Grab’s second win in the space of four days as he scored an impressive win in Launceston prior to breaking his Hobart hoodoo.
Quick Grab is trained by Anthony Bullock who is on his way to another trainer’s premiership with this his 92 winner and likely to pass the magical ton by the end of next week.
