Blingittothemax at Bathurst

Tasmanian owned 2YO Blingittothemax has drawn the pole in a heat of the Alabar Bloodstock Gold Crown at Bathurst on Saturday night. The Mick Maxfield owned colt was trained at East Devonport by Paul Ashwood but has recently been transferred to Sydney trainer Darren Hancock.

 

Blingittothemax has been in the headlines from the day he entered the Sydney Australian Pacing Gold (APG) Yearling Sale in March last year. The colt reached $145,000, which was the second highest price for the sale. The Art Major – Alldatglittersisgold offspring is bred in the purple and the dam was crowned 2013 and 2014 Australian Broodmare Of The Year mainly through the performances of Baby Bling (55 – 21 – 6 – 4 – $854,490) and Bling It On (44 – 31 – 9 – 1 – $829,422).

 

Blingittothemax created a big impression at trials prior to his scheduled first race start at Hobart on 15 February which did not eventuate due to a respiratory infection on raceday.

Three weeks later (8 March) he made it to the races and effortlessly disposed of a three horse field at Devonport.

 

The race on Saturday night is a $7,000 heat into a $100,000 final the following Saturday night (28 March) at Bathurst. After that, it is likely Blingittothemax will head to Menangle for the $10,000 heats (7 April) of the Australian Pacing Gold into $30,000 semi finals (18 April) with the $322,000 final to follow on Sunday 26 April.
