In Brief
- Blue Lee is chasing back-to-back wins.
- Chaser has a 50% winning record over 515 metres.
- Monday night's action starts at 19:41.
Thursday night Hobart winner Blue Lee will be chasing another win when she lines up in the Wayne Groves Automotive Mixed 3rd and 4th Grade in Launceston on Monday night.
The Bruce Macrostie-trained chaser recorded 26.19s over the 461 metres in Thursday night’s victory which was her first start on the Hobart track.
“I was very pleased with her effort, she hadn’t been on track and ran respectable time,” said Bruce.
The chaser was only 3/4 of a length behind Winklee Wizard in Launceston last week over the 278 metres where she was checked before chasing hard along the rails recording her own time of 16.36s.
“She should have won but was one stride too late,” the trainer said.
The Stagger – Lucky Seed bitch has been a fraction below her best leaving the boxes in a few recent starts.
“She is coming back from a couple of injuries, and she was beginning quite well before then, but since she has come back she has missed it a couple of times, I just hope she begins again tonight,” explained Bruce.
“She hadn’t had many trials on the racetrack (since injuries), I had been keeping her to the straight track,” added the trainer.
Blue Lee has had 33 career starts for 10 wins and 13 placings and over the 515 metres in Launceston, she has won two of her four tries. She started her racing career in Victoria before ending up in the Apple Isle.
“My son knocks around with Robert Palmer (Victorian trainer, owner and breeder) and that’s where we got her from, she had won at Cranbourne in ordinary time and then she came over here and has been a great little money-spinner for us,” explained the trainer.
On Monday night she has drawn box five where she takes on Devonport Chase heat placegetter Definite Signs who starts from box two and the consistent It’s Phyliss from box eight being some of the leading contenders.
“It is a bit hard with the box draw but she is so consistent, and I give her a show again,” said the trainer about Blue Lee’s chances.
Monday’s 10-race card commences at 19:41.
