MULTIPLE premiership-winning trainer Anthony Bullock has always regarded Hellyeah Bolt as one of the best dogs he has ever trained.

But in recent times his kennel star has been the victim of more bad luck in races and subsequent niggling injuries than he would care to mention.

Last Thursday night in Hobart the son of Dyna Lachlan was back to his best to take out the Tasmanian Gold Cup final over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park.

He began fairly from box four to be handy to the lead and when he emerged from the pack a clear second it was obvious a long way from home that he would emerge triumphant.

The in-form Breaker’s Tip led from box two and had three lengths to spare at the home turn but when Hellyeah Bolt slipped into overdrive in the home straight he quickly put the end result beyond doubt.

Hellyeah Bolt went on to score by almost four lengths from litter brothers Breaker’s Tip (Mogambo-Dennes Point) and Bruny Venture that dead-heated for second.

Bullock believes Hellyeah Bolt has been close to his best for a while but admitted it has been the dog’s past two performances that have given him an indication that he will be a player in the upcoming Group 1 Hobart Thousand.
