TALENTED Tasmanian greyhound Hellyeah Bolt tuned up for the state heats of the AGRA National Sprint Championship series with a brilliant win in The Mercury Silver Trophy final over 461 metres at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last night (Thursday).
Hellyeah Bolt began well from box four to be handily placed behind leader Hannah Boden that led the field clearly to the top turn with Arome Peche on the rails third and chasing hard.
But when Hellyeah Bolt slipped into third gear turning for home he quickly put the end result beyond doubt.
The Anthony Bullock-trained dog powered home to score by over six lengths from Hannah Boden with Shanlyn Vapour over two lengths away third.
Hellyeah Bolt stopped the clock at 25.95 with splits of 5.05 and 11.22.
The race was run in pouring rain and on a heavy rack so the time was outstanding given the circumstances.
Hellyeah Bolt will head to Launceston on Monday night for a state heat of the national Sprint Championship (race 7) in which he has drawn box seven in which he is up against two smart ones in Her Highness (1) and Good Odds Demon (4).
