IT isn’t often that a Scott Brunton-trained galloper salutes at bolter’s odds but such was the case in the opening event at UBERT Park Hobart today when rank outsider Accounted For demolished his opposition in a maiden class one over 1600m.
Accounted For had no form to encourage punters to invest in the gelded son of Ladoni but his owners were all on at big odds that varied from $26 to his starting price of $41 with UBET fixed odds.
Accounted For was well ridden by Damien Thornton who had him settled midfield in the small field of seven.
Turning for home Thornton called on his charge for the big effort and her quickly collared the leader It Could Be You and went on to defeat that gelding by three lengths with Livermore just over a length away third ahead of Made To Fly.
Brunton said he has had Accounted For in his care for about eight weeks and that the four-year-old had “improved dramatically” since his previous start in Hobart two weeks ago.
“I also had Demons Run in the race and he was my first choice to win based on exposed form but I told the owners of this horse to also have a bet because he only had to take his recent trackwork into the race to be a winning chance,” Brunton said.
The last bolter from the Brunton stable to win was Rose of Innocence that won at odds of over $30 late last year and she went on to win seven races in succession to be undefeated this season.
