In Brief

  • Stevenson's new addition shows off in Hobart.
  • New owners a bonus for trainer.
  • I'm Wesley not far off returning to stable.

Trainer Glenn Stevenson has been steadily building his team at Wesley Vale and the latest to make an impact on the track is Boom Dot Com that scored impressively in a maiden over 1400 metres in Hobart last Sunday.

The former Victorian-trained but Sydney-owned filly was having only her second start for the stable and while it was far from an unexpected performance the daughter of Spirit of Boom was an alarming drifter in the market from $7 to $11.

Boom Dot Com settled second and sat just off the leader Olympic Honour ($7) with Captain Morgan ($10) caught three-wide until rider Ismail Toker urged that gelding forward to sit outside of the leader.

This allowed jockey Daniel Ganderton to ease Boom Dot Com into the perfect position and when he eased her three-wide to challenge turning for home he gave one flick and she quickly put the end result beyond doubt.

The well-backed favourite Lucky Lil ($5 into $3.40) came from well back to finish second but even though she loomed to be a threat at the top of the straight she couldn’t take ground off the winner.
