TALENTED jockey Shannon Brazil will undergo surgery today (Monday) on the left shoulder she injured in a race fall at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart on Sunday.
Brazil was sent crashing to the turf when her mount Brazendaley appeared to lose balance and cross its front legs about 300 metres after the start of the J Boags 3YO and Upwards Maiden (1200m).
Brazil was catapulted from the saddle with her left shoulder taking the full brunt of the impact.
She was taken to Calvery Hospital for observation and diagnosed with a badly fractured clavicle (collar bone). She will undergo surgery at the Royal Hobart Hospital today.
Brazendaley emerged from the ordeal with only minor abrasions and bruising, which was light considering he crashed through the running rail.
