BREAKER’S TIP produced arguably the best run of his career at Tattersall’s Park in Hobart last night where he came from looked an unwinnable position to notch the fourth win of his career.
The Gary Fahey-trained dog began only moderately from box six and then became entangled in a mix-up back in the field that left Smoke Da George well clear of Running Money (1) and Buddy Good Boy (3) nearing the top furn.
Breaker’s Tip managed to break clear of the midfield pack but he was still three lengths off the leader at the top of the home straight.
But the dog’s tremendous will to win and keen chasing manners prevailed and he stormed past the leader close to home to hit the line 2-1/2 lengths clear of Smoke Da George with Running Money almost three lengths away third.
It was the dog’s fourth career win and his second on the Hobart U-turn circuit.
Breaker’s Tip was well backed to start the $1.90 favourite and was considered by most pundits to be the best bet on the 10-event card.
The dog has won four of his 12 starts with six minor placings.
