BREEDING buffs having a bet at the Devonport harness meeting in Tasmania on Monday night would have cleaned up in the first two races on the card.
Jonny Red Neat won the opening race and the three-year-old colt is the second foal of Chocaladante that won five before being retired to stud and the mare is a daughter of former classy filly Flo Jo Torado that won 10 races including an Evicus Stakes for 2YO fillies.
Jonny Red Neat produced a barnstorming finish to grab the odds-on favourite Bonfirenite in the shadows of the post.
Jonny Red Neat is by Blissfull Hall and is owned and raced by a syndicate including her trainer-driver Rohan Hillier who also bred the colt.
The second race was taken out by Artistic Queen that came off a second-row draw but proved far superior for her rivals, scoring by over 10 metres from Jive Kicks with Trooper Boy three metres astern.
Artistic Queen (x Modern Art) is from Nautical Lady who is an unraced daughter of well-performed broodmare Gold Display.
Artistic Queen, prepared at Perth (near Launceston) by Bill Dornauf, sat outside the leader for much of the race but still proved too strong, drawing clear 300 metres out and went on to score without much effort.
